Thijs van Pelt, often referred to by his initials TVP, was the third Dude of Snoopy, taking office after the impeachment of his predecessor, Drew Lofquist. He also founded Snoopy's first political party, the Beaconist Party.
Much of Pelt's dudacy was focused on re-establishing public trust in the office, as the reputation of Snoopy's municipal government had been heavily tarnished by the Lofquist embezzlement scandal. However, van Pelt also laid the foundations for much of Snoopy's modern foreign policy, and presided over the city during a period of rapid expansion, including the annexation of Playa Sardinia.
Pelt saw relatively high approval ratings for most of his term, but his controversial pardon of Lofquist eroded his reputation. Additionally, his response to Snoopy's rapidly declining economy was perceived by many to be inadequate and unprofessional, which made him the target of significant public unrest and thrust him into political obscurity after the end of his term. During his post-dudacy, Pelt attempted to reshape his image into that of an elder statesman, writing 7 books and taking several foreign trips.
Early Life[edit | edit source]
Pelt was born to a wealthy farming family in Southwark. His parents, Aad and Hilda van Pelt, were religious leaders, which had a significant impact on Pelt's upbringing.
Pelt's formative years were marked by evangelical Christian observances of the time, such as refraining from potions, dancing, and swearing. Pelt had two brothers, Boudewijn and Klaus.
