Tifcaus
A tifcaus (literally "thief house") is a Stailac term for a house in which one or more of the walls has been left incomplete, in order to exploit the walls of other houses and ensure a maximum surface area. Such houses are extremely common in high-density areas such as the Playa Dorada neighborhood of Snoopy.
History[edit | edit source]
The term tifcaus originated as a pejorative term amongst the older residents of Playa Dorada, in reference to the neighborhood's high-density construction boom. Initially, it simply referred to any newly-developed housing, regardless of its structure; new developments were seen to be "stealing" the atmosphere of the area, which had previously been perceived as much more relaxed.
As more and more aspiring young professionals built their homes, they specified the definition of the tifcaus to solely refer to the unique structure of certain houses.
Impact[edit | edit source]
Though still generally seen as illegitimate or lazy, the structure of the tifcaus has been adapted throughout most of Playa Dorada and its environs because of its low cost and the density of the area. Many urbanists argue that it is beneficial, as it allows the neighborhood to sustain its density and famously active environment.
Legal challenges[edit | edit source]
On multiple occasions, Playa Dorada residents have submitted requests towards the Snoopy City Council in the hopes of adjusting the neighborhoods zoning laws and making the tifcaus illegal.
